New Study Reveals Shocking Statistics On How To Catch Cheaters

People often think that anyone is capable of cheater - except their partner.

Unfortunately, adultery is a huge obstacle that many couples in America and throughout the world must face. We all love our partners and want to believe that they are somehow immune to the cheating bug- but many of them end up being a cheater.

Our study found that not only do people cheat (and quite often as 90% of our participants have been cheated on at least once), but that technology is a big player in the world of infidelity.

Our study found that over a third of people detect cheating by verifying call and texting history. In this article, I'll uncover the details of the survey.

About Our Cheating Study

Our study examined how often people get cheated on, as well as how technology plays a role in cheating. We found that not only have most people been cheated on at least once, but that a large percentage of people found out that their partner was cheating via some sort of technology, such as searching the cheater’s phone records or finding out via social media.

This shocking fact also proves that most people use technology in some way or another as an accomplice in their adultery (thus making their cheating tracks easier to trace).

Who took our survey?

We surveyed 115 people. Out of our 115 participants, 64% of people who took our survey were women and 36% were men.

Our study found that a vast majority of its participants have been cheated on at least once. Only 10% of our survey takers have never been cheated on.

Technology contributes to this high percentage statistic. If you continue and read further into this study, you will find that most cheating victims looked at their partner's phone history, internet history, or social media to help catch their partner cheating. This verifies that a majority of cheaters use some sort of technology as a way to connect with their secret lover.

Technology Plays a Major Role In Infidelity

The findings of this study were very interesting. While technology has opened new avenues for people to commit adultery, technology has also opened new doors for people to discover adultery and innovative ways on how to catch a cheater red-handed.

Part of the cheating epidemic is the high-level accessibility to cheating. Technology allows a cheater to commit an act of infidelity at any given time. Laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc. You name any form of technology, and it can be used in some way to simplify cheating.

Cheaters will find creative ways to use these forms of technology. Wife is at the doctor? Use webcamming. Your husband is out of town for one weekend a year for his fishing trip? Go on Ashley Madison.

During that same time period, the divorce rate rose 2000% in America. Since infidelity was the only culturally accepted reason to divorce someone during that time period in the United States, it is safe to say that infidelity became more common in the late 19th century to early 20th century.

Now that technology has further advanced, there is an infinite number of ways to cheat. Cheaters can literally go online and virtually cheat by connecting with another live human being. Additionally, now that women have entered the workforce and have much more freedom than they previously had sixty years ago, they have also been big contributors to the world of infidelity.

However, our high-level of technology also plays a role in catching the same cheaters that use it to their advantage.

Technology Makes Cheating Easier To Catch

As technology has progressed, so has the things that we can do with it. Technology has especially changed relationships. We can easily go behind our partner’s backs to cheat thanks to technology, however, our actions online and use of cellular data are hard to completely erase.

For example, your secret lover can hold records of your cheating that they can use against you at any point. They can send your partner the text messages and pictures that the two of you have shared. It’s also easy to slip up and leave digital clues.

Spouses even will go as far as to track their partner’s GPS to see where they are going or put spyware of their phone to watch their activities.

As our study shows, a large percentage of people found out their spouse was cheating by looking at phone history, internet history, and social media history.

Survey fact: Only 10% of people found out through confession of a partner and only 18% through a third party.

Do People Forgive Their Cheating Partners?

Additionally
  • 21% said that they forgave them immediately while 36% said it took some time to forgive them.
  • 25% said that they would never forgive their most recent cheating partner while 19% said that they may forgive them eventually.

While it may be shocking that over half of all victims of infidelity say that they have forgiven their cheating partner, it is healthy for victims of infidelity to let go of their anger and to move on, either with their partner or separated from them.

Our study found that in most cases, couples that suffer from infidelity must suffer because of one partner’s mistakes. However, there is a significant percentage of couples where both partners are cheaters.

Do victims of infidelity stay with their cheating partners?

64% of people are still with the partner that cheated on them.
of people are still with the partner that cheated on them.

Surprisingly, people will often stay with the partner that they cheated on. While some people might judge this action, and wonder why a person would ever want to stay, there are many reasons that a couple will want to work through things. For example, perhaps there may have been other problems that led to a one time mistake and otherwise satisfactory marriage. Or maybe they really love each other and are willing to accept that cheating is forgivable.

Additionally, cheating might not have to have a relationship ending consequence as often as it used to because adultery has become more normalized. The shock value of adultery has lessened over the years as cheating has become more prominent and acceptable in romantic relationships.

Whatever the reason, it’s not fair to judge someone whether they decide to stay and work it out or call it quits.

It’s not surprising that people who are cheated on are emotionally and psychologically affected.

Emotional Infidelity can have lifelong consequences as well as trust issues that might not be ever be fully mended.

This goes to question, why do people cheat on those they love when they know that they will have to work the rest of their life to make it up to them and they may never fully make things right again? Studies show that there are multiple reasons why people cheat, and most the time it has nothing to do with the one being cheated on.

If you have been cheated on and want closure and/or want to work it out with your partner, chances are that the circumstances were unique and they will have to be honest with you as to why they strayed.

Study Summary

Our study shows that technology has a huge role in the world of infidelity. Additionally, our study found that infidelity can cause a higher level of mistrust in the victims than before the cheating occurred. Yet even when trust is taken away, a majority of cheating victims find a way to forgive and even stay with the partner that cheated on them.

Our statistics also show that most people are victims of infidelity. If you have been a victim of infidelity, know that it is your choice whether or not you want to stay in the relationship.
